Weeks have passed since the infamous telecast between Zelensky and Trump on Friday, February 28, 2025. Judging by the public response to what occurred in the telecast, it will be remembered in political history as a Guy Fawkes moment. Explosive and inexcusable.

Hostile

There is no other way to describe the meeting between Zelensky and Trump, it was hostile. One commentator suggested the meeting, was an ambush. Zelenski was invited to meet with Trump, he assumed it would at least be a cordial meeting. The hostility expressed by Trump and his deputy J D Vance toward Zelenski and his country Ukraine, was plain for all to see.

Putin

Why is an American President making a phone call to Putin as though they are long lost buddies. The contact implies support from Putin for Trump's behavior toward Zelensky. Trump envies Putin's position as a dictator for life, Trump himself wants to be a dictator for life. Rumors of Russian interference in earlier election cycles are unconfirmed, but where there is smoke...? Has Trump always known of this interference? So many questions left unanswered. You can't trust Trump to give you a truthful answer. The lies he told to get re-elected has come back to bite those who voted for him.

Ending the War

Trump made it one of his top priorities to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Just a little military incursion according to Putin in 2022. Trump declared the war was started by Ukraine, another big lie. Trump insisted Zelensky give up 20% of Ukraine territory and sign a peace deal with Russia. When Zelensky refused, Trump threatened to end military aid if a rare minerals deal was not signed in favor of the USA. What Trump did do immediately after the oval office ambush, was stop military aid to Ukraine. Days later public pressure forced the President to reinstate military aid. The war continues in 2025, making a lie of Putin's little military incursion.

Russia Peace Deal

On February 12, 2025, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin announced that they would start immediate negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, without involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This move left many European and Ukrainian allies in shock, as it effectively called time on U.S. support for Ukraine's resistance against Russia's invasion. A subsequent 30-day ceasefire on energy infrastructure from 18 March 2025, may or may not hold.

Invite to the White House

Zelensky was invited to the White House on the 28 February to discuss continued military support and to sign the rare elements deal. A deal Zelensky was happy to sign. Instead, Trumps hostility could not be contained. His obvious bias toward Russia was revealed when what looked to me, were insults hurled at Zelensky and Ukraine, shouting they had no cards to play with. JD Vance’s ignorant comment, “Offer some words of appreciation for the United States” directed at Zelensky added to the one-way hostility.

Zelensky

Volodymyr Zelensky should be admired for his calm and direct response to the open hostility. It was an ambush, to which he was invited. Zelensky was praised for leaving the meeting without signing away his country’s rare earth elements. It is just another reason for Putin to invade Ukraine.

Putin’s bigger goal, the main reason for the invasion of Ukraine, is to restore the boundaries of the old USSR. Other satellite countries, beware.

Support Ukraine

Citizens in countries free of the old USSR do not want to be under the thumb of dictator Putin. Support Ukraine and Zelensky in their fight to determine their own destiny.
