"I hate to predict things like that. There is a period of transition, because what we're doing is very big. We're bringing wealth back to America. That's a big thing... it takes a little time, but I think it should be great for us" President Donald Trump.

Trade war started by Trump have led to dramatic fall in relations with Canada.

Tariffs no exceptions

It’s difficult for me to hear anything Trump has to say, without taking a healthy dose of skepticism with it. Since when has a trade war ever worked in favor of the country that started it? An example of Trump’s big lie, “Ukraine started the war”. The question must be asked, “Why is Trump so determined to destroy the economies of the USA and Canada?”

Trade Wars

There are many examples of trade wars being ineffective in achieving economics goals. Usually, they result in a tit-for-tat situation. The consumers always suffer increased costs or suffer through disrupted supply lines. Two examples.

  • The U.S.-EU Steel Dispute (2002-2003): In 2002, the United States imposed tariffs on steel imports from several countries, including those in the European Union, to protect the U.S. steel industry. The EU retaliated with tariffs on U.S. products, leading to a trade dispute that was eventually resolved through negotiations.

  • The US-China Trade War (2018-2020): Initiated under the Trump administration, this involved the imposition of tariffs by both the United States and China on hundreds of billions of dollars' worth of goods. It stemmed from concerns about China's trade practices, intellectual property theft, and trade imbalance. While a "Phase One" trade deal was signed, many tariffs remained in place.

Key Characteristics of Trade Wars:

  • Escalating Tariffs: Trade wars typically involve a series of retaliatory tariff increases between countries. Ontario slaps a 25% tariff on electricity exported to the USA. This is in response to Trump’s threat to impose a 50% tariff on steel and aluminium exported to Canada.

  • Economic Disruption: They can disrupt global supply chains, increase costs for businesses and consumers, and lead to economic uncertainty.

  • Political Tensions: Trade wars often reflect underlying political tensions and can damage diplomatic relations between countries.

  • Winners and Losers: While some industries may benefit from protectionist measures, trade wars generally create more losers than winners, as they harm overall economic activity.

Difficult Resolution: Trade wars can be difficult to resolve, as they often involve complex political and economic issues.

Trump Threatens Canada

The big question is why would Trump start a trade war with Canada? Trump uses the excuse that Canadas border is not secure, allowing the drug fentanyl into the USA. Canada strongly denies this is happening, declaring less than 1% of the drug gets through its border. Canadians are angry and feel betrayed by Trump's suggestion to make Canada the 51st state of the USA. Prime Minister Mark Carney has reinforced the comments of former PM Justin Trudeau, Canada

will never, ever, in any shape or form, be the 51st state of the United States.

Trumps Agenda

Trump’s goal is to destroy the economy of Canada, having made clear that Canada only survives because of the power of the USA economy. It does not matter to Trump who he hurts, Canadians or Americans, it’s all the same to him. No doubt, Canadians will suffer from the trade war, but Americans will find their groceries costing more, and farmers cannot export their products. What does matter to Trump, is the strength of unity amongst western democracies being undermined. The trade war extends to Mexico, the European Union and every other democracy. There are three dangerous men on this planet who all aspire to divide the world into three centres of power: Putin, Xi and Trump.

Summary

Trade wars are a ruse used by Trump to help him achieve his ultimate dictatorial ambition. To be one of three centres of power on planet Earth. What is your view, is Trumps collaboration with Putin part of a plan to divide the planet into three power centres. As YouTube commentator, Farron Balanced, expressed, “The entire world is pissed off with Trump”.
