“Excellence is not a singular act but a habit. You are what you repeatedly do.” - Shaquille O'Neal

Choosing an online business model may seem like a straightforward proposition. For some it will be, for others finding the model that suits you, is like finding your way out of a maze. For me golf had to be included in my online business. I’m just a hacker; how could I possibly be of help when there are so many other far more qualified online coaches. Experienced YouTubers Danny Maude and Mike Malaska, among many others give excellent golf swing advice. Golf content creators are spread liberally on all social media. What, if anything, could I contribute to this popular sport and business.

Your website

I started this series with the website because it is necessary for this type of online business. It sends your message out to the world and receives responses to it. Many will glance at your message and scroll on, others will delve deeper but not respond, a few will resonate with your message and respond by email. Your website will record the email address, add it to your list and auto-send a thank you. Overtime as you build a relationship with your list of responders, through your content and offers, income can grow.

Online Business Models

  • Affiliate Marketing. Earn a commission on sales by promoting products and services offered by individuals or businesses by a referral link. My first affiliate arrangement is with Amazon.

  • Drop Shipping. Your website is an online store selling goods on behalf of others. You do not hold any goods at all. The supplier of the goods will freight them direct to the customer.

  • Digital Products. E-books, anything printable like a pattern for a dress, or a design for a T-shirt, even a software product, all can be downloaded for a fee.

  • Coaching. That’s what I paid for, a how to course for online income. Exercise gurus, life guidance, spiritual counselling, are a few examples of coaching remotely.

  • Blogging. This is what I do, writing content, to generate income through ads and affiliate marketing. In future sponsored posts will be considered.

  • Freelance. Graphic designers, content writers, website builders, other professional services, all freelance online services.

Selecting Your Online Business Model

In practice, you will build the website after going through the process of selecting the business model that suits you best. There is a big cloud of information available about how you chose the online business model. Finding your niche is an important part of that choice. I found my niche by looking at what my interests were, what I was passionate about, what I could talk all day about. My diary is full of golf comments, I watch the PGA and LPGA tours regularly. I must be passionate about golf. I’m not a visual or audio creator, but I don’t mind writing. My business model is blogging.

More to Come

There are subjects within subjects. Niche is one of the subjects that could be discussed further. Let me know in the comments.
